Karma & Giving
A public accountability page for a practice still in its early years. Every practice has a threshold before it becomes profitable. This one tracks that threshold openly, and documents what happens after it is crossed.
The First ₹1,00,000
Why the milestone matters, and what has been invested to reach it.
Before I take home a single rupee from this practice, I need to recover what has been invested to build what you see here. The number is ₹1,00,000. Roughly one lakh. That is the cost of setting up a serious Vedic astrology practice from the ground up, honestly accounted for.
The investment breakdown:
- Diploma in Vedic Astrology and continued courseworkDiploma from Shree Maharshi College of Vedic Astrology, together with multiple years of patron membership and continued learning under different gurus across Vedic astrology, alongside organizational psychology and finance studies, all undertaken to give clients a well-grounded consultation experience. Actual cumulative spend across these fields was around ₹40,000; only ₹5,000 is being counted toward the recovery calculation here.₹40,000₹5,000
- Website design, hosting, and domainFull custom rebuild, WordPress infrastructure, SSL, plugins, and yearly renewals. A 30-year hosting term cannot be paid in one go, so it is paid in three to five year bundles at bundle discount, with cost-effective plugins factored in. Estimated 30-year cost including inflation growth is roughly ₹45,000; only the amount shown is being drawn from the business toward this recovery calculation, with the balance carried as ongoing overhead.₹29,000
- Software and research toolsClaude AI Pro membership across seven months plus additional research credits, used as writing and research collaborator when hiring an editor was not affordable. Includes a ₹2,000 (~$20) reserve set aside for future software updates, tool credits, and code editing needs as versions evolve.₹27,000
- Book publishing across twelve titlesNotion Press paperback and hardcover publishing costs across four titles (three published, one in queue). Kindle-only titles carry no publishing cost.₹14,000
- Classical research library and rare source materialsBrihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS), the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Silver Jubilee edition, and additional research material sourced through specialist dealers. The foundational library behind every reading.₹4,000
- Marketing and basic advertisementModest, targeted, and honest. Nothing manipulative. The full marketing budget has now been exhausted; any further advertising will come out of pocket and is not counted as part of the initial investment.₹15,000
- Copyright stamp fee for software and books, and lawyer friend feesCopyright stamp fee for the software and books, together with fees paid to a lawyer friend for legal assistance.₹6,000
Google Workspace Studio is a recurring monthly cost of ₹99/month starting September 9, 2026, later upgraded to ₹247/month, with further increases expected in line with inflation over time. This is maintained from personal goodwill to give clients a premium experience, with the goal of continuing it for the next three decades.
Once this is recovered, everything about how this practice runs changes. What follows below is documented in advance because a public commitment holds more weight than a private one.

What happens once the investment is recovered.
✦ The Commitment
Ten percent of every rupee earned, donated to children’s charity
Once the initial investment is recovered, ten percent of every rupee this practice earns goes to organizations working with children. Not as a marketing line. As a working policy.
How it works:
- Donations are made in tranches of ₹10,000 to ₹12,000, matching the sponsorship packages offered by trusted NGOs. This is not symbolic amounts. This is what actually funds a child’s schooling for a period.
- Every donation is documented in the ledger below with the amount, the receiving organization, and a public receipt PDF.
- Nothing is anonymous. If a rupee is going out from this practice, it is recorded here. If a rupee is not going out, that too is visible in the progress above.
- Organizations are chosen for transparent finances, established credibility, and direct impact on children. No middlemen.
Organizations Under Consideration
Where the donations will go.
Named · Being Onboarded
SOS Children’s Villages

Being Researched
Additional Children’s Organizations
Additional NGOs working with children, particularly orphaned or at-risk children in India, are being researched and vetted. When one is selected, it will be named here with the reasoning. The bar is high: transparent finances, established credibility, and direct impact.

✦ The Long Path
What Happens in the Ketu Mahadasha
The classical dasha of detachment and renunciation, arriving in my mid-fifties
In the classical Vedic reading of my own chart, my Ketu Mahadasha begins in my mid-fifties. Ketu is the karaka of detachment, moksha, and the release of what one has held. When his period opens, the tradition asks the native to loosen the grip on what has been built and let it become the world’s.
When that period arrives, this work becomes public property in every way that matters:
- Every book on Amazon Kindle will be released either free or at the minimum permitted price. What was published to be read should still be read.
- The astrology software, currently copyright filed with the Government of India (Diary No. LD-23684/2026-CO), will be released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Any student, any practitioner, any developer will be able to study it, adapt it, or build upon it.
- The research studies, the databases of yogas and doshas, the classical sourcing, the validation methodology, all become open documentation for the field.
- Nothing is retained beyond what serves the tradition itself.
This is not renunciation for its own sake. It is the tradition’s own instruction: what one has received one gives back, when the time comes to give it. Ketu simply names the season when that time arrives.
This page exists because a public commitment holds more weight than a private one. It is not a promise to be kind. It is a promise to be accountable.
